November 2002 - Nexans has developed a new training approach dedicated to data cabling systems, based on web "e-learning", to supplement it's extensive range of independently recognized infrastructure courses.
The online service will enable Nexans to increase the level of support that it offers to its partners and to reply more quickly to requests for training from around the world. The service will enable subscribers to receive immediate updates on issues such as standards changes, new products, safety practices and other content whilst at the same time users can follow guided training modules in their own time and have access to a 24 hour/7 day support resource.
The e-learning program is powered by a highly interactive server, which allows the trainees to be guided closely by the trainer, but who can now be located be at the other side of the globe. The progress of the trainees can be monitored allowing the trainers to provide more focussed individual support where it is most needed.
Pieter Wuyts, cabling sytems Training Manager within Nexans said, "In a market which evolves at this speed the need to keep our partners and customers up to date is vital. As a global organisation dedicated to providing local support, the web has given us the opportunity to increase support to all regions, however remote, and to provide training opportunities to those who struggle to find the time to attend courses. "e-learning" is not intended as an easy substitute for face to face training but is an excellent supplementary tool that increases speed, flexibility, and availability of information for the subscriber"
