 Paris, November 7, 2002 - Gérard Hauser* was elected President of the International Cablemakers Federation at its last meeting held in Beijing at the end of October. He will be assisted by the newly elected Vice-President, Baker C. Cunningham, CEO of Belden, as well as the Past President, Dr. Noritaka Kurauchi, Chairman of the Board, Sumitomo Electric Ind.
The General Meeting, attended by 125 delegates from all five continents, also elected the new members of the ICF Board: Valerio Battista, CEO of Pirelli Cavi e Sistemi Energia SpA, Jerzy Burdzy, Vice-President of Tele-Fonica Kabel SA, Larry Aiello, CEO of Corning Cable Systems, and Eddie Edwards, CEO of OFS.
Founded in 1990, the ICF is a platform for worldwide cooperation in the cable industry. The Federation today represents more than 70% of the volume of activities in this sector, for which annual sales total 69 billion dollars US.

Note to the Editors
The main objectives of the ICF include promoting the use of cables, improving production and product safety, environmentally-friendly recycling of products used in the manufacture of cables, collecting and analyzing all information relating to the sector and maintaining contacts between the members of the ICF, in order to ensure continuing positive development of cable activities.
